Signed With Love…

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

Last night I waited impatiently for my DH to come home while the package sat on the table. It was there and I was going crazy! But still, I waited and waited as I was afraid to open it alone. Who knows it may have jumped out and bit me or something. Better to have a bit of back up. Or I might have fainted dead away and I don’t think Jack is one of those wonder dogs, you know, all inclined to dial 911 when things get sticky. More likely than not, he’d use my body as a handy stepping stool to the table where he’d be that much closer to his treats. But I’m now off course as you all know I’m often to be. Let’s get back to where I was waiting. And waiting.

Then finally he came home, looked at me on the couch and said, “you’re still up?”

“I was waiting to open my package. I think my book is here and I don’t want to open it alone.”

He threw down his bag and said, “well what are you waiting for? Open it,”all the while excitedly going for his camera phone. I frowned, because by then I was looking a hot mess but inside I was grinning.

Then it was open. We were wide eyed. There it is. A book. A bit smaller than I thought for all those words I made up. I shrug. Guess it turns out, I really can edit. The cover is smooth and cool to the touch. I flip through. No pages upside down. All seems good.  We kissed and hugged and laughed. Yay! My name is on the spine. Holla.

But then there is another package to open. You see I ordered my book to see how it would turn out, but as I was doing that my DH was ordering his own copy and now I had my first book that needed an autograph.  And this one was signed with love. So worth the wait.

All the best,

KMJ

Happy 20th Anniversary today to my so dear DH.
As I’m sitting here typing this my heart is beating extra fast and there’s that little flutter in my stomach and the words, well, at least not any witty or coherent words, they just won’t come easily, but the emotion is there so strong as the tears prick at my eyes. This is real life, real emotions, real love. Our love. No made up characters here.
I’m grateful for good times and hard times, the laughter (so much of it) and even the pain. The 20 years of what ifs and most of all of the people we have grown into (parents of twins-yikes!) and are still growing into together.
This is still a journey and I can’t believe it’s been 20 years so fast. You’ve been married to me for now half my life- a really good half let me tell you.
Now let’s say we go for another 20 to see if we can finally get this thing right. The fun is just beginning!

Love always and forever,

P.S. To all my friends and visitors. Thanks for sharing the love with us today.

What’s Jack up to? I’ve realized Jack’s doing a really good job at training me. Something is so wrong with this picture, eh? But it’s so cute the way he pushes his water bowl at me to let me know to get off my butt and get to serving him. Boy, he’s learned a lot from the folks in my house. Yeesh!

Today is me and The DH’s 19th wedding anniversary. Yep, it’s a mind blower for me too.

I don’t really remember exactly what we’re thinking or saying when this picture was taken in Central Park, but I’m pretty sure the conversation went something like this:

DH: “Can you believe this?”

Me, laughing: “Nope.”

DH: “You are always getting me into something.”

Me: “Yep, I am.”

DH: “So, what are we supposed to do now?”

Me: “I don’t know but let’s hurry up and get these pictures done. I don’t wanna miss the cocktail hour. That’s the best part.”

DH: “You know you’re crazy, right.”

Me: “Yeah, I know, but you love me and I love you.”

DH: “Ok let’s go, Lovie. It’s your party.”

Happy anniversary DH! 19 years is many a lifetime. It’s fun growing up with you.

Best,
Kwana

What is LOVE?

What’s Jack up to? Ugh! The wild dog tried to give the DH a heart attack this morning on his walk by dashing out into the street towards a car. Thankfully he’s fine. Not so sure about the DH.
Thanks to all of you who submitted questions on Ask The Agent yesterday. There’s still time to chime in. If you want to ask submit here. I’ll be writing up the interview soon and submitting it to Elaine. I’ll give a shout out as to when it will be posted. Great Fun! Thanks again.

Speaking of fun…
Happy Birthday to my dear DH! My own sweet knight in not so shining armor (not his fault. I’m just a poor armor shiner). No this is not my DH in this photo, but this is me at about the time I met my DH about 20 years ago with my big time forever crush, Prince.
Then my DH came along. He was my total opposite with his southern charm and cool demeanor, but he and give me the same type of chills as the very best Prince song. I was a lost from the start.

He really is my true BFF, my toughest critic and greatest supporter. Sticking by me at my best and worst and understanding me when no one else does.

Happy Birthday DH!
I Love you. But you already know that.

Love,

Me

What’s Jack up to? That little devil has pulled down my coat and is searching my pocket for treats. Stop thief!

Well, the blog party’s almost over. I hope it doesn’t stop my new friends from coming on back. It’s been fun getting to know you all.

So, I’ve been trying to wrap my head around a new book idea and it’s right on the tip of my brain. So close, I can almost taste it. I know it’s there with action and excitement, but for some reason it’s just not coming. So being visual (have you noticed all the pictures on this blog) I took a clue from another blogger, thanks WriteBrained, and tried playing around yesterday with a dry ease board. Of course, I had to get multiple colored markers:) But in about an hour I went from this:

To this:

Yay! Now I feel like there may be something I can get my fingers around. Wish me luck.

On another note. It’s been a pretty trying time in the Kwana world and yesterday I received the most wonderful surprise in the mail. My DH aka Mr. Silent aka Are We Still Talking About That? aka Mr. When Did You Tell Me That? Well, the UPS man drops off a package and when I opened it it was my favorite soaps! The Claus Porto Soaps from Lafco New York in the delicious Honeysuckle scent. These are the same soaps that were featured on Oprah’s Favorite things. I fell in love with them last year on a trip to Vegas with the DH. Who can now add to his list of alias’ aka Mr. Big. How sweet is that?

Best,

Kwana

P.S.

Finally it’s Goodbye to Chet on Survivor. Man, I think the poor guy even voted for himself! Cirie had better watch out though. Amy’s coming for her. Good stuff.

Inspiration Excavation

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

What’s Jack up to? It’s the weekend so he’s happy to have a full house and The DH (his best buddy) around to give him long walks and play endless games of fetch which tire me out way too quickly for his taste. Have a blast Jack.

So it’s Superbowl weekend this weekend which pretty much means I’ll have four free hours while the DH and DS sit in front of the TV and watch the big game. For some reason I have a football block and just can’t get into it. 50 yard, first down, flag in the play. Huh? Although, I have been enjoying all the crazy player/model/actress romance talk in the media lately. And sure, with The Giants going to the Superbowl this year, I’ll do my duty as a good wife and a New Yorker and root for the home team, but from a far while watching a Project Runway or Top Chef marathon up in my room.

On top of watching these marathons I’ll be doing a little excavating for inspiration this weekend. Having written quite a few manuscripts, I’m at the point where I really want to take my writing to another level and step out of my self-made box. Buh-Bye censor!

A good friend of mine (thanks MG!) sent me a bunch of writing workshops to listen too which I’m really excited about. I’m going to continue with reading Stephen King’s On Writing which I’m thoroughly enjoying and get some gentle advice from Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird. For further inspiration I’ll be checking out some cool clips from Romance Novel TV and getting an inspiration shot in the arm from some of my favorite bestsellers. Here’s a couple to inspire you from Jo Beverley, Eileen Dreyer and one from Nora Roberts on getting The Call!

Merry Christmas to me…again?

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

What’s Jack up too? For all his fierceness he’s afraid of going out in the dark tonight. Maybe it was seeing the family of deer walking along his normal street path the other night. That’s Jack, all bark and no real bite.

So my Christmas was lovely and came complete with a bit of deja vu. I have a Tiffany charm bracelet which my DH, DS and DD gave me a few years ago. Now, I know there are some in the fashionista set who think it’s tres passe but I don’t care.
I think it’s a classic, like all my many black turtlenecks, it will never go out of style. I love it live and wear it proudly.

So when I unwrapped a box and saw the traditional Tiffany blue a smile instantly appeared across my face. I knew it would be a new charm for my bracelet. I opened the box, looked at my DH and said with a grin, “it’s wonderful. I love it and I loved it when you gave it too me last year!”

See what happens when you’ve been married for many years. There’s bound to be repeats. Luckily Tiffany is always designing new charms for sentimental traditionalists like me.

Check back later to see what our exchange trip to Tiffany will bring.

Best,
Kwana
