On Stage- Me at Lady Jane’s!

Tuesday, October 8th, 2013

Those who have followed me for a while on ye old blog know what a fan I am of Lady Jane’s Salon, the monthly romance reading series held here in New York and now branched out in satellites all over the US. Well, since its inception Lady Jane’s quickly became my monthly getaway where I got to meet up with friends who were also lovers of the romance genre and hear some of my favorite authors whom I have long admired read from their newest works.

Well last night, and I still can’t get over it, it was my turn. Nervous doesn’t begin to express my feelings as I hit the Lady Jane’s stage since I’d been nervous for weeks and months leading up to the event. But looking out it was a pack house full of so many supportive friends, including my dear DH (we were enjoying our 24th anniversary last night too) and I went for it.

And I survived. I even got a few laughs. My 8 minutes were up before I knew it. I said a few words, read from THROUGH THE LENS and was back by my dear’s side in no time. Finishing my drink. Whew! (here we are below with Ron Hogan who announced our anniversary).

I can’t say thank you enough to all those snubbed their noses at Mother Nature and packed the house out ( and it was packed) and came to see Sara Jane Stone, Leslie Caroll, Jes Young and little old me! Thank you so much and thank you once again to Hope, Ron, Leanna and Maya for all the support and the continuous support of the romance genre.

3rd Time’s a Charm

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

In what seems almost unbelievable to me, yesterday afternoon I typed THE END, yet again, and then took the big, scary leap into the abyss and pressed send as I sent BOOK 3, my final book in my Creative Heart’s series (tentatively set for a January release), off to my editor at Crimson. In true Kwana form, as soon as I pressed send, I immediately wanted to find that magic button that said RETRACT, but guess what? There is none (why oh why doesn’t the internet have a 5 second rule? Imagine how many reckless mistakes could be avoided with just this one little button. How many eyeballs could be spared the runaway hot dogs). Oh well, it’s GONE now. And all I can do now is sit back and stew as I await the verdict on it. In the meantime I already have new ideas percolating so I guess the keyboard won’t have long to cool off as new characters are already whispering. No rest for the creative weary.

And in a huge bit of coolness check out what I got to hold in my hot little hands…yes, the print version of Book 2, SEDUCTION’S CANVAS! Please excuse me while I drool for awhile and turn into Smeagol from The Lord of The Rings and just stroke and put “My precious” on repeat. Talk about gorgeous. I have to say I’m loving it (and Jack is too) . What a fantastic job on this book and cover. And eek! I’ll be signing some of this and THROUGH THE LENS at Lady Jane’s Salon at my 1st reading on Monday October 7th. What a time to be had!  Check out the details here.

What a Day!

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

Yesterday was an amazing day! Like I said to a writer friend on twitter, “I feel like a seat filler at the Oscars.” Just how did I get invited to this party? It was just magical seeing my 1st published book, THROUGH THE LENS climb in the ranks and getting to hang out with all the cool kids. I was totally nerding out. Once again, I can’t thank all my FB, Twitter friends and Crimson Sisters enough for sharing, tweeting and doing what they could to spread the word on the Kindle Daily Deal yesterday. Once again it proved to me just how wonderful and giving the romance community is. I feel so lucky to be a part of it. And I’m so happy to announce that thanks to you all Through The Lens, as if this moment has made it to #1 in Multicultural and Interracial Romance.

Oh and I’m guest blogging today over at my local RWA/NYC chapter blog today with an excerpt from THROUGH THE LENS. Check it out here. Thanks.

I am so grateful and feel truly blessed. Love to you all.

Happy Pub-iversary to me!

Friday, September 6th, 2013

Once again I was sleeping (well, writing in this case) on the job. I went and put a post up on September 3, then went back into my writing cave, letting my characters and my deadline take me away, not even noticing until some old friends (once again, characters) came a knocking by the names of Mika and Ale to tell me that I was forgetting something.

You see, September 3rd was my 1st anniversary as a published author! Whee and Woo Hooo! I can’t believe it’s been a year already that Through The Lens has been out, but the calendar says it’s so (not to mention my new grey hairs) and the calendar (or Miss Clairol) doesn’t lie. It’s been a roller coaster year of fun and learning and there is still so much more growing I have to do and stories I’d like to write. I can’t thank you all enough for sticking by me on my journey with your kind words and encouragement.

Cheers to all of you and remember to keep Looking Through The Lens. You never know when you’ll see a brand new view.

Big Wheels Keep On Turnin’

Monday, July 29th, 2013

Happy Monday! Don’t go getting all excited about it all at once now. Hold yourselves together. Unbelievable, but we’ve already made it to the middle of the Summer. Suddenly I’m feeling the urge to pump the breaks and slow things down a bit. The heat has been steadily rising and so has the pressure of, ‘get in the Summer fun before the time is done’.
Speaking of Summer fun… here is my big haul from #RWA13.

rwa books 2

Wild huh? Can someone tell me when and how will I get to all these books? And while figuring that out can they also pencil me in 3 more hours into each day? M’kay? Thanks.

Also looking at the date I’m freaking a bit as I notice it’s now 7/29 which means there are 3 days left where you can get both THROUGH THE LENS (now re-edited for a smoother read, talk about great news!) & SEDUCTION’S CANVAS for the Super Low price of 1.99 over at Amazon.

Don’t miss out and get them while you can! Who knew Seduction could be had for such a price? Whee!

And here is a question I haven’t asked in a minute… what cha reading? Please let me know in the comments? Thanks.

And The Winners Are…

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

I want to thank everyone once again for hosting and for following me on my World Wide Blog tour.  I had such a good time and now I’m happy to announce the tour Amazon gift card winners from trusty Random number generator.

First, our tour host winner is Christy McKee from Christy McKee Writes for Women in The Sweet Spot of Life. Congratulations, Christy and thanks once again for hosting me and Through The Lens!

And now I’m so grateful to have had over a hundred comments on my tour, many of them from people who were kind enough to follow me from stop to stop reading the Through The lens excerpts. I can’t tell you how happy that made me. I hope that even if you did not win you’ll still pick up Through The Lens to see what happens with Mika and Alejandro. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

And now to the lucky winner… Congratulations to lucky 78! Lyra L7! Thanks for the fantastic comments Lyra. Your gift card is on the way!  This has been so much fun and I hope to see you all again with my next book: Seduction’s Canvas. Please look for Seduction’s Canvas at the end of May, just in time for Summer beach reading!

All the best,

KMJ

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

Howdy folks! It’s been quite the week and flying by too. We had a quickie snowstorm and then Spring sprung with more freezing temperatures and not a fine how do you do. Side-eye to that.

I have another stop today over at Long and Short Reviews so please stop by there for another chance to win. And on top of all of that, with the week not even over, yesterday I got my edits for book 2 so it will be a busy next couple of weeks for me in the writing cave (note to self: get provisions ie: chocolate).

And then finally to top things off with the best news, I got my official release date and title for book 2! So that said… wait for it… Book 2 in my Creative Heart series will be out May 27th and called…

Double up Wednesday!

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

Howdy Lovelies and Happy Wednesday and Happy Spring though the snow outside my window says something else. Today I’m in two places at once again but no worries I’m a mom of twins so I’m used to it.

My first stop in hanging with one of my fellow Crimson sisters Elizabeth Meyette for an interview. It was so much fun hanging with Elizabeth and I really enjoyed her fantastic questions. Then my next stop in my world tour is with the cool Kim at Read Your Writes Book Reviews. Please stop on by her great blog to see what she has to say about Through The Lens and get another change to win a gift cars. Whew, what a wild Double Wednesday this is! Have a great one.

Winter is Here…Still

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Good Tuesday. I can’t believe I’m here waking to snow today. Will it ever be done? Ever? Ok that’s quite dramatic, of course it will and Spring will be on the way before we know it, tomorrow in fact! Don’t you love my pep talk? I really am trying, but at this point the only Winter I want to see is in the upcoming Game of Thrones season opener.

Today for another stop on my magical fashion tour I’m at Rachel Brimble Romance blog so please stop on by and enter to win. But wait… I’m making two stops, WHEE!! I’m also at Books are Magic blog so 2 chances to win! Stop on by there too. Have fun!

Also don’t you just love this series of 1970’s pics of legendary beauty Pat Cleveland by photographer Antonio Lopez. I sure do. They still look modern and beautiful.

Have a happy and let’s all wish for Spring together. I’m going to do some warm scene writing to bring a little heat to the day. How are you warming up? Reading anything good?

All the best,

KMJ
