Hi there. I’m peeking out from my little cave to say hi. I’m trying to get into some sort of new life schedule with kids back home and a busy writing life. Things are a changing rapidly around here and it’s never a dull moment, but through it all I have to remember to stop and breathe and just let the world happen.

Jack is still hopping around and so over his collar, but he needs it as I have to clean his wounds 2x a day so though he hates it, it’s very necessary. I hope I’m doing the cleaning correctly and all will be well when we return to the vet next week for his stitches to be removed.

I’ll probably be a little more sporadic on ye old blog for the next few weeks just peeking in here and there. I will surely give you updates on anything exciting with me or the Jackster or the super cool book coming out in September!

Have a Happy Mother’s Day weekend all you moms. I’m thinking you should at least get a weekend out of the deal, forget about just one day. You all deserve so much more for all you do.

And a Very special Happy Mother’s Day to my own mother, Kay and my Nana. I can’t say how much I love you both and how grateful I am to have your love in return. The older I get the more I know that.

So my son took the Jackster out for a walk yesterday and out of nowhere a big dog comes out and attacks Jack. Oh to the What to the Get Out Of HERE! My son pushes the dog off of Jack and somehow fights him off while pulling a scared Jack away and picking him up. Another man stops and starts screaming for the owner. Well, it turns out the owners are the nice sisters (sisters as in married to the Lord) that live in the rectory house around the way. Oh gosh. Needless to say there were lots of tears and prayers going around.

Long story short, Jack was bitten twice. He had to be sedated and has stitches, tubes and drains in the wounds to his hind parts. My son thankfully is ok but feels just awful about the accident which he could not avoid. All this has been just the midpoint of a week that we thought could not get any worse. Just coming at us. Wowza. A total ‘what’s next?’ moment. At this point I vow to not be surprised.

So I had this dream last night, well quite a few, and I remember bits and pieces of each, which I do often ,but in one that I’ll share with you I was trying to buy my book out of a machine vending machine of all things. You know, like those new machines where you can buy an iPod and the accessories if you have 200 bucks to spend in a machine and a music emergency. But the thing was my book was in an old style beat up machine like you’d see at on the outskirts of a bad Carney show. And the book was in a brown cardboard box with brown tape so I don’t know how I knew it was my book (also it was a secret baby book which I have never written). Besides my book, also in and this machine was various stuffed toys, card and old time candies to complete the rundown look of it all. Now don’t ask me what it all means, I’m not going to analyze (yes I am), though I will consider the push of bringing the Book- O- Mat back.

Life is quickly starting to feel hectic and a little overwhelming but here is a little Monday thought that I’m thinking of adopting. I’ve started in a small way with a quick but ruthless closet clean out over the weekend. Who knows what will be next?

With the second night of rolling thunder last night and me waking clutching my sheets (ok, so the clutching is a bit of an exaggeration) I’m now in a bit of a Gothic mood. And looking at this YouTube video I’m ready to start a collection. Do you have any favorite Gothic novels?

I was surprised the other day when a friend of mine called me to ask me about a book I rated on my Goodreads list. She asked if I thought she would like it too. I told her I thought she would and she said thanks and that she would download it. I was surprised because it still shocks me at times the amazing outreach of social media. See, I didn’t even know my friend was on this list or that she was following what I read. I pretty much use it as a tool to keep track for myself since I can’t remember what I had for dinner the night before last let alone a book I read 3 months ago. But it just goes to show that there are so many people watching what we do and say.

Saying hello to May on this rainy NY day. A perfect day to stay in and work away which is what I’ll be doing. Right now my mind is going a mile a minute with: new business things to set up for my brand new venture, blog posts to write, the big old book to get back to and finish, pesky new ideas that are popping into my head (shhh you!) not to mention little twin A has finals this week that are worrying me to death AND will be coming home at the end of the week. Better move that exercise equipment out of his room. Eek!

But really I guess I’m no busier than any of you. We are all juggling as fast as we can, right? With all the juggling I did get 1 thing actually checked off my list yesterday, my author Facebook page! Thankful doesn’t begin to say how I feel about the outpouring of love and support at my contract news last week. But yes I’m still trying to wrap my head around it but I’m starting to. Yes, I’m starting to. And yes, I’m so thankful.

If this experience has taught me anything it’s taught me how important it is to believe in yourself and to never give up something. I knew it and preached it but may have never been all the way behind for myself.

Thanks so much to you all for reminding me during those dark times when I would start to forget.
